Brussels

DSCN6212 DSCN6225

Today, another town. Apparently this is the view from Kevin's flat. So very urban. Strangely, my first thought on seeing the photos was that they remind me of those wolf-and-moon-hoodies that were popular in the (hopefully ironic?) hipster parts of the world a while ago. (Ugliest trend ever?)
In other news I'm still puzzled by the fact that there's a Pet Shop Boys song about Peter Mandelson, and that there's cat-shaped lipstick. Both things are kind of epic? I want a mini-album about politicians. And one can never have enough lipstick.

CK

(via elle.com)

Christopher Kane's fall/winter 2009/2010 will always be one of my favourites. I'm not even asking for one of those dresses - a jumper would be fine!

This picture from Teen Vogue sums up what I like about clothes right now.

It's rather obvious why I like her looks...

summery

If there are any secret admirers out there who are thinking about getting me a Christmas present: I'd like this flag necklace by Scout Holiday please! The Indietracks bunting necklace by Tatty Devine would be fine as well.
(Not-so secret admirers, i.e. mothers, friends or boyfriends, your presents are always great anyway.)

I like: Burberry Prorsum

Especially Spring/Summer 09. I love the colours and the garden theme and how it all looks like a watery, rainy blue day. I love the floaty dresses in combination with the sharp coats. I love those socks even though our parents would cringe and think about white sport socks in the 80s. I love the embroidery and the stripes and those trousers, oh wow! And of course I think that these necklaces are pretty much the only jewellery you need because they are awesome. In the end though, it's those particular shades of blue and grey that make me feel lightheaded, or spring-headed, maybe.

This is awesome. Everything about this is brilliant.

Marry me, stranger

Hi. If I were a man, I'd like to look like this. No, actually, I don't care about being a man, I'd like to look like this guy no matter what. How great are these glasses?? Exactly the kind of glasses I'd like to wear. And exactly the kind of coat I need in my life.
In other news, I've been ill again - I dragged myself to a meeting with a professor today who told me that I looked "more ill than usual". Lots of time to watch silly documentaries, read "I, Claudius" (so gossipy and...Roman!) and make the perfect waffles... and sneezing of course.
Tomorrow I'll spend the night at the museum. Fingers crossed.

All I want for post-Christmas is this

This is MAD. It's even scarier than that Radiohead box which Max spent so much money on.
That said, I want it. And for the first time in my life I feel like celebrating my birthday in another country.
I don't even have time to read the newspapers because I'm so busy, but somehow there's always time for being obsessive about bands.

all I want for Christmas is you....and you....and you....and you

the Belle & Sebastian t-shirt I've been wanting for ages and the BBC sessions

magical lipstick and pastel nail polish (e.g. Cyan Blue/Turquoise, Pale Purple, Yellow, Navy, Lime Green or Mulberry Pink)

All I want for Christmas is to watch this video and the cheesy romantic comedy which it is taken from over and over again.
I want time to read all the books that are waiting patiently for me. They have formed a huge pile next to my bed, but there's no time for me to read novels. There might be when Christmas comes round. This year, I'm not really asking for anything. I've got all the books I want, I've got everything else, it's little useless things in pastel colours that make me happy. I am looking forward to spending a lot of time with my family. I am looking forward to eating a lot of food. I am looking forward to smelling the Christmas tree. I am looking forward to doing nothing in particular with dear friends. I am looking forward to Christmas, as I do every year.

I like: Luella

A very delayed second part about designers I like. You know, actually I'm obsessed with clean chic and Jil Sander, but what with the short hair and stuff I feel especially girly and sugary right now. Luella is basically the designer every single (British?) girl/blogger seems to adore which made me sceptical for a long time. But then I had to admit to myself that I had fallen head over heels in love with the SS09 collection - all the frills and pastels together just made my heart go boom. And the silver suit from SS08 is still the coolest thing EVER. It just looks like "YAAAAYYY!" turned into cloth. Awesome!

Five

1. I've been looking at necklaces for ages, wishing I had a tiny bicycle dangling between my collarbones. One of these would be nice as well:

But even though I am sorely tempted to buy one of these, my fear of internet purchases luckily prevents me from spending heaps of money. In the end, I just "made" one myself using an old favourite of mine, wooden Christmas tree decoration.

A horse

2. Yesterday Andrei and I met up for breakfast and ran around in mountains of autumn leaves. Or he did. Having breakfast is one of my favourite things to do. For one thing, being out early in the morning feels much better than being out late at night as I hate the dark, but love the tranquility of the morning hours. For another, it's food I like, and you get tea as well.

Er schwimmt!

We just don't know!

3. This morning started out by listening to Elastica, especially the brilliant "Stutter". This is such a good song, it always makes me want to get on a stage and go wild. Singing about a man's problems in bed in such a way must be fun fun fun! Accordingly I felt like channeling Justine Frischman. But all that remained of that intention was my brother's shirt. It's a sad thing, there is not a single item in my closet which would scream, "ROCK'N'ROLL! HEROIN! DAMON ALBARN'S GIRLFRIEND!" My life's pretty tough that way and I end up looking like a bore.

Allerseelen

4. The day didn't end with Elastica either. I started listening to the A Good Crop compilation once again. I've probably mentioned it before, but it's a free download provided by the people of Eardrums and it's basically a collection of awesome indiepop. If you're inclined that way musically, do download it. I've never heard a better indiepop compilation before which means a lot coming from a person who spends half their time reading indiemp3.com....

5. Odd things: I saw a man with curled eyelashes on the bus today. It might have been all natural, but it looked slightly strange all the same. My dislike for curled eyelashes is quite impressive in general though. Ugh, why would you use one of these:

Just say no!
