Yesterday morning I woke up on the train. We were approaching Vienna. The sun was rising.
And I was struck by the colours. England is still green, but the Austrian soil is red and ochre now. The landscape looked painted in the early morning light, and that, combined with the lack of sleep, the immediate reunion with my family and the knowledge that I'd be in my hometown again in just a few moments - that made me sit there, open-mouthed and silent.
